11. Management Committee

  • The management committee consists of six members – the President, the Vice-President, the secretary, the secretary’s representative, the treasurer and the treasurer’s representative.
  • The management committee is appointed by the President. The President may freely appoint a successor to replace him as President.
  • The management committee’s term of office is four years; re-appointment is possible. The four-year period does not apply to the President. Every function in the management committee shall be exercised personally.
  • The management committee shall be convened verbally or in writing by the President or, in his absence, by the Vice-President. If the Vice-President shall also be absent for an unforeseeable length of time, any other management committee member may convene the management committee.
  • The management committee is quorate if all members were invited and at least half of them are present.
  • Resolutions of the management committee are passed by a simple majority; if a vote is tied, the President has the casting vote.
  • The President or, in his absence, the Vice-President, shall chair the management committee. If the Vice-President shall also be absent, the chair shall be the oldest member of the management committee (in years of age) present or that management committee member voted by the majority of the remaining management committee members.
  • The functions of a management committee member shall be extinguished by death, expiry of the term of office, dismissal and resignation.
  • The President may dismiss the entire management committee or individual members of it at any time. Dismissal shall come into effect upon the appointment of the new management committee or management committee member as the case may be.
  • The members of the management committee may declare their resignation in writing at any time. The resignation shall be addressed to the management committee and, in the event of the resignation of the entire management committee, to the general assembly. The resignation shall not be effective until a successor is elected or co-opted as the case may be.
